Author Guidelines
What we look for, how to format your manuscript, and the standards every Keller title meets before it reaches a reader.
Voice & Originality
We publish work with a distinct point of view. Lean into the perspective only you can offer, and avoid imitation of trend-led styles.
Craft & Structure
Every chapter should earn its place. Tight pacing, clear stakes, and intentional structure are baseline expectations across fiction and non-fiction.
Reader Respect
Assume an intelligent, curious reader. Cut filler, define jargon on first use, and never sacrifice clarity for cleverness.
Formatting Standards
- Microsoft Word (.docx) or Google Docs export, double-spaced, 12pt serif (Times New Roman or Garamond).
- 1-inch margins, page numbers in the footer, scene breaks marked with a centered hash (#).
- Chapter headings on a new page using H1 styling. Avoid manual line breaks for layout.
- Footnotes (not endnotes) for non-fiction, using Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition.
- Embed images at low resolution for reference only; deliver final assets as separate 300dpi files.
Content Expectations
- We accept full manuscripts between 60,000 and 120,000 words. Novellas and short collections are reviewed twice a year.
- Original work only. Previously self-published titles are considered case-by-case if rights are fully reverted.
- Sensitivity reads are commissioned by us when relevant; flag any subject matter that warrants one in your cover letter.
- AI-assisted drafting must be disclosed. Fully AI-generated manuscripts are not eligible.
